See the thinking behind every wrong answer.

Short daily maths and English practice for Years 1 to 6. When your child gets something wrong, you see the question, the answer they gave, and the part of the curriculum it belongs to.

Children do not need their own login — you hand the device over.

Inside the app

Try it as your child would. The questions and results here are examples; nothing you tap is saved.

For them

A world to explore, built for ages 5 to 11. Tap the glowing Discovery Desk for a mission, or any game for a five-question taster of the real thing.

Hi, I’m Pip! Tap the glowing Discovery Desk for today’s mission.

Deep SeaThe real game, five questions. Nothing you answer is saved.

  • Short sets, every day. Six questions in Years 1 and 2, ten in Years 3 to 6.
  • Read aloud at the youngest ages. In Years 1 and 2 nothing needs reading or typing to answer.
  • A reason, not a red cross. A wrong answer gets “Not quite” and an explanation for that mistake.
  • No leaderboards. Stars and badges are their own, never a ranking against other children.

For you

A clear picture, in the curriculum’s own words.

Right, but taking time

Right, but slower than a confident answer, or slower than their own usual.

Spelling · typically 6.6 seconds
Right, but slow, listed apart.
  • The mistake behind the score. For each statement they find hard, the question they were asked and what they answered.
  • Right, but slow. Correct answers that took longer than usual are listed apart, so a hesitant child and a fluent one do not look the same.
  • Readiness, statement by statement. Measured against the National Curriculum programmes of study, strand by strand.
  • Your family in one place. Add each child, set their year, and hand over the device.

How the practice works

  1. A short set, chosen for them

Questions are picked from what a child is ready for and what they are due to revisit, not from a fixed worksheet.

  2. Marked fairly, every time

Answers are checked on our server, so the right answer can never be peeked at on the screen.

  3. The mistake is the useful part

Wrong options are written against a particular misunderstanding, so the explanation a child gets is for the mistake they made.

Maths

  • Number, place value and the four operations
  • Fractions, decimals and percentages
  • Measurement, geometry and statistics

English

  • Spelling, including the statutory word lists
  • Vocabulary, grammar and punctuation
  • Phonics, and reading a text to find an answer

Built for the youngest too

  • Year 1 and 2 questions are read aloud
  • Nothing needs typing or reading to answer
  • Larger text and three colour modes throughout

Questions parents ask

How long does it take each day?

A set is six questions in Years 1 and 2 and ten in Years 3 to 6. A little, often, is the point.

Can a Year 1 child use it on their own?

Every question in Years 1 and 2 is read aloud, and nothing needs reading or typing to answer. With the youngest, we suggest sitting with them for the first few sets.

Does my child need an account or an email address?

No. You create the account and add your children. A child never logs in: you choose who is practising and hand the device over.

What will my child see?

Questions, a map to explore, stars and badges of their own. No adverts and no leaderboards. A wrong answer gets a gentle “Not quite” and an explanation.

What does it cover?

Maths and English for Years 1 to 6, aligned to the National Curriculum programmes of study, so what you read about your child is the curriculum statement itself.

Can I remove my child’s data?

Yes. You can export or erase a child’s record at any time from Data requests in your account.
